Grant-funding and peer-review validation of SomaGenics' Technology
SomaGenics has funded its early, high-risk studies to develop and validate the technology through government grants and contracts totaling over $11 million, mostly through the Small Business Innovation Research Program of the US National Institutes of Health (NIH), in addition to NASA, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the US National Science Foundation (NSF). SomaGenics was also the first biotech company to win a grant from the California Department of Commerce's California Technology Investment Program (CalTIP). The company was subsequently awarded a second CalTIP grant. Each of these grant awards represents rigorous scrutiny and high competitive ranking (often the top 10%) of SomaGenics' proposals by a panel of expert peer reviewers.
UC Berkeley Business Plan Competition
