SomaGenics' main diagnostic platform is a called the RNA Lasso.  The technology is based on topologically linking a complementary RNA molecule (Lasso) with a target mRNA, providing superior binding strength and specificity compared to other antisense approaches.

Although an RNA Lasso does not chemically react with the target, once bound, it can only be removed from the target RNA by the breakage of the circle forming the knot, followed by disruption of Watson-Crick pairing with the target. Lasso-target complexes are stable to high temperatures (as much as 95°C) and at the same time are highly specific:  single mismatches out of a 20-nucleotide recognition element block stable binding. These properties make RNA Lassos a superior choice for nucleic acid detection.
