Proprietary Libraries

Phenotypic screening using RNA interference has been widely adopted in industry and academia for the purpose of identifying new drug targets. While whole-genome libraries of vector-driven shRNAs are available for this purpose as discrete clones, they are very expensive and cumbersome for smaller institutions and individual laboratories to maintain.  SomaGenics™ has developed a rapid, proprietary method for the production of libraries that target all favorable siRNA sequences within a gene or genome with no algorithm-induced bias.

SomaGenics’ libraries have important features

  • Use pooled shRNAs, for ease of handling
  • Allow user-customized screens to reveal genes of interest
  • Have low complexity, allowing screening in cells to provide the natural biological context for the gene in question
  • Allow identification of new drug targets through use of whole-transcriptome libraries (under development)
